Academics at WJ

Walsh Jesuit’s academic excellence reflects a Jesuit emphasis on scholastic achievement. WJ offers a dynamic blend of required and elective courses, presented by faculty members who will engage students to their full potential. The Walsh Jesuit classroom sets an ample foundation for lifelong learning. 

Walsh Jesuit operates on the semester system. The school day is from 8:15 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.. Classes meet for 40 minutes each day. Students are required to take a minimum of six major courses and complete at least 60 hours of volunteer service to graduate.

Walsh Jesuit, in keeping with the Jesuit values on education and cura personalis, has developed a Policy for Students with Documented Learning Differences and Special Needs. To learn more, please refer to the Academic Adjustments page.



Three Walsh Jesuit Students Named National Merit Scholars

Walsh Jesuit High School is proud to announce that three of the school’s
Seniors were named National Merit Scholars for the 2024-2025 school year. One student was named a National Merit Semifinalist, and 2 others were recognized as Commended Scholars.

These academically high achieving students have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring.

At the end of each semester, Walsh Jesuit recognizes students who earn a cumulative semester GPA of *4.0 or above with First Honors, and those who earn a cumulative semester GPA of *3.5 or above with Second Honors.

* A student who earned a cumulative semester GPA of 3.75 or above prior to the 2023-2024 school year, were recognized as First Honors, and those who earned a cumulative semester GPA of 3.3 or above received the distinction of Second Honors.
