College and Career Counseling

College & Career Exploration

Walsh Jesuit High School College & Career Counseling is a four-year comprehensive program to support students as they navigate and discern their post-secondary plans. College & Career Counseling plans and promotes college exploration and career and employment-related programs, beginning with self-discovery tools during freshman year.

Starting Junior year, Walsh Jesuit High School College & Career Counselors work individually with students and their families through the college search process.  College & Career Counselors work closely with School Counselors to provide information and support to students and their families throughout their four years at Walsh Jesuit.  Our programming also involves parent education. Each step of our programming is guided by Jesuit ideals, focusing on the whole person.

Highlights of our Program

  • Naviance Account: An on-line program for both college research and career pathway exploration, available throughout all four years.
  • Over 75 on-campus college representative visits throughout the fall semester.
  • Sophomore College Readiness Panel with representatives from a variety of colleges.
  • Junior Jumpstart Conferences: a tailored meeting between a student, parents, and their College & Career Counselor.
  • Practice ACT: This test, administered to all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors in the spring, provides direction for educational and career planning and has the additional benefit of providing practice for the ACT assessment.
  • PSAT/NMSQT: This test is taken in the fall of junior year as a qualifying test for national recognition and preparation for the SAT. Sophomores also take the test in the fall as practice.
  • Application Workshops for Seniors as they start, edit, and submit their college applications.
  • Financial Aid workshops and counseling on understanding and navigating the award process.
