Walsh Jesuit’s Riley Feltner Commits to Kent State University

Walsh Jesuit junior, Riley Feltner has made a commitment to continue his academic and athletic career as a Golden Flash for Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Feltner will play for the school’s NCAA Division I baseball program under Head Baseball Coach Jeff Duncan. Kent State is a member of the Mid-American Conference.
A right-handed pitcher for the Warriors, Feltner helped lead the team to the OHSAA Division I regional semifinals in 2017 and was also a
member of the nationally-ranked 2016 Warrior team.

According to Feltner, he’s very proud to attend and play for Walsh Jesuit. “I feel honored every time I put on a Warriors jersey to play for the program that has such a rich history of winning and developing great players. I've been incredibly blessed with the awesome coaching staff here at Walsh who have all done so much for me since my freshman year, continuing to help me develop as a person and a player. I'm excited to see
what our very talented team can do this year in a run at a state championship,” said Feltner.

“What a tremendous opportunity for an equally tremendous young man,” said Chris Kaczmar, Walsh Jesuit’s head baseball coach. “Riley is such a cerebral player that has an eagerness to learn and be a student of the game, he genuinely loves so many different aspects of baseball. He loves its history, and loves following baseball and improving in it every day.

"However, I would say the thing I admire most about Riley Feltner is how much he cares about his brother. I think at the end of the day given the choice, he would want better for his brother than he would for himself…. and that says so much about the young man Riley has become. Riley is an extremely hard and tireless planner and worker. He understands how the game is supposed to be played, and he conducts himself with such a high level of composure, intellect, and professionalism. All of his qualities are such a great example for our entire program. Riley is a high-level prospect now, and I’m even more excited to see what can happen in his future at Kent State University. I am thrilled Riley will be a Golden Flash down the road, and equally thrilled that he will be with us for a couple more years.”

While a student at Walsh Jesuit, Feltner has been on the Honor Roll every semester. He assists with camps for young kids at Strikeforce Baseball Academy, he is an American Cancer Society volunteer and has helped coach the Walsh Jesuit summer Baseball Camp.

Feltner, who plans to major in business at Kent State, is the son of Derek and Laura Feltner of Hudson.
