Walsh Jesuit’s Cameron Burford Commits to the University of Dayton

Walsh Jesuit senior Cameron Burford has made a commitment to continue his academic and athletic career as a Flyer for the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

One of the first members of the 2018 Walsh Jesuit baseball team to announce his decision, he will play for the school’s NCAA Division I baseball program under Head Baseball Coach Jayson King.  He will sign a letter of intent in the near future accepting an athletic and academic scholarship.
A right-handed pitcher for the Warriors, Burford helped lead the team to the Regional Semifinals in 2017. He was 2-0 last year with a 2.47 ERA for the Warriors.

“I feel blessed to be a part of the great community at Walsh Jesuit where I found it is easy to make friends, meet new people, create great connections and even show your Warrior pride. I am extremely fortunate to have worked with Coach Kaczmar for the past few years and look forward to playing for him this upcoming season. I am absolutely ecstatic to play at the University of Dayton! I have always wanted to play Division I baseball so, I am thrilled. Being a part of Dayton is truly something special and I cannot wait for the opportunities that I will be provided with there,” said Burford.

“What a true joy it is that Cameron is a part of the Walsh Jesuit Baseball program,” said Chris Kaczmar, Walsh Jesuit’s head baseball coach. “I can’t say enough good things about Cameron’s level of professionalism, his eagerness to learn, his willingness to go the extra mile and his big heart. He is always finds ways to make a positive impact not just on the Team, but on the greater community as well. He is a very bright young man, and I am so happy and proud of the recent jump he made in his ability on the field that has put him in position to be a Division I player, and he has only just scratched the surface of his potential. Cam is just a tremendous young man and I take great pride in being his coach. Additionally, we are thrilled to have him joining Coach King and the new staff at Dayton. Most of all, we are looking forward to having Cameron as a part of Walsh Jesuit Baseball for one more year.”

While a student at Walsh Jesuit, Burford participated in the robotics club and automotive club. He also volunteers his time at On Target Outfitters and coaching local youth baseball.

Burford, who plans to major in mechanical engineering with an aerospace focus, is the son of Shawn and Denise Burford of Poland, Ohio.
