WJ Women's Cross Country Posts Many Season-Bests at Legends Meet

The Walsh Jesuit women’s cross country team competed at The Legends Meet at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 7, running a pair of varsity squads plus an open team.
The Varsity A team placed 11th out of 23 teams in the large-school division race. Senior Bryanna Renuart led the Warriors with an 11th-place finish, crossing the line in 20:15. Junior Lexi Neff ran second for the Warriors in 21:08, followed by freshman Clare George who logged a 21:48. The remaining four Varsity A runners - Elle Smith, Daria Reimund, Izzy Horning, and Sophia Steiner - all finished within a span of nine seconds and 11 places. Renuart, George and Horning all ran “season-best” times.

The Varsity B team also ran in the large-school division race, placing 16th out of the 23 teams. Sophomore Lorelei Wychanko led WJ with a 22:07, followed by senior Anna Grace at 23:00. Finishing up for the Varsity B team were Victoria Casenhiser, Máire Wellemeyer, Emma Lally, Sammy Malone, Mary Valenziano and Kaitlin Mohlenkamp. Season-best races were run by Wychanko and Wellemeyer.

In the Open Race, the Walsh Jesuit placed fourth overall. Freshman Halle Walcutt led the Warriors by placing 23rd in 23:16. Not far behind were junior Madison Bohacek at 23:22 and sophomore Megan Brown at 23:53 who finished 26th and 35th, respectively. Season-best times were turned in by Brown, Katie McGrath, Kendall Gregrich, Michaela Brown, Allie Powers, Reema Sleik, Annmo Sabella, Jessie Brown, Gabby Covas, Gabby Nassif, and Addison Burke.
