WJ WOMEN FINISH 9TH OVERALL IN NORTHWEST OHIO CLASSIC INVITATIONAL

The Walsh Jesuit Women’s Swim Team participated in the Northwest Ohio Classic Invitational on Saturday, December 21st. Preliminary heats were swum in the morning with the fastest 30 individual swimmers and 20 relay teams in each event returning that evening for Finals. Prelims were held at Fremont Ross High School and Finals took place at Bowling Green State University. WJ Women finished in 9th place overall out of a total of 35 teams from across Ohio and Michigan.
 
Four women advanced to the Finals in individual events along with two relay teams. Senior Maddie Draiss led the scoring by earning 2nd place both the in the 100 yard breaststroke and 100 yard IM. Senior Mia Telerico finished 11th in the 100 yard butterfly and 13th in the 100 yard backstroke. Sophomore Ava Speelman finished 11th in the 200 yard IM and 17th in the 100 yard breaststroke. Senior Sarah Salek finished 19th in the 500 yard freestyle.
 
Draiss, Telerico and Speelman teamed up with junior Sophia Mercurio in both the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay and placed 7th in both events.
