WJ Women's Cross Country Has Good Day at McQuaid Invitational

The Walsh Jesuit women’s varsity A cross country team finished 10th of 17 teams at the McQuaid Jesuit Invitational in Rochester, New York on Saturday, September 29.

Senior Bryanna Renuart led the pack with a 12th-place in 18:47. Sophomore Amelia Figler and junior Lexi Neff came in seconds apart at 19:56 and 19:58, respectively. The remaining four varsity runners of Daria Reimund, Sarah Elbin, Emma Lally, and Elle Smith all finished within a span of 13 seconds, and seven places.
Finishing just five points shy of taking second place, the varsity B team took third overall, led by Lorelei Wychanko who was third. In addition, seniors Anna Grace and Izzy Horning checked in 10th and 12th, respectively, a mere second apart from each other. Marissa Carr made a splash in her 5k debut at McQuaid and ran a finishing time of 21:34, the 14th fastest time of the team at the event Rounding out the Varsity B team was Sammy Malone, Maire Wellemeyer, and Mary Valenziano claiming the 29th, 34th, and 36th spots.

Finally, in the freshman/sophomore race, Walsh Jesuit saw many nice performances from the up-and-coming Warriors. Kaitlin Mohlenkamp led the WJ underclassmen with a 37th-place finish, followed closely by Halle Walcutt in 42nd. Not far behind was the one-two punch of Megan Brown and Allie Powers at 49th and 50th. Sophomores Sarah Salek and Meghan Zakelj were right behind, placing in 61st and 62nd while Gabby Covas finished 70th.
