  • Freshman Choir

    The Freshman Choir gives new students the opportunity to learn the art of singing with others, good singing technique, basic choral-related music theory and experience the beauty of making music.
     
    The Freshman Choir performs a variety of music and the music of Christmas. The focus is on the art & technique of choral singing using different musical styles ranging from popular to classical to jazz and beyond.

  • Jazz Band

    Jazz Band is a daily course that meets immediately after school, and is worth full credit. Under the direction of Nicholas Ratay, the jazz band will learn about various jazz concepts and play a variety of music including swing, Latin, and more. The jazz band is open to anyone with basic music experience, and performs at several events each year, including four concerts. Instrumentation includes Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums. 
  • String Orchestra

    The string orchestra is an ensemble comprised of violin, viola, cello, and bass. Under the direction of Nicholas Ratay, the string orchestra learns important musical techniques and plays a variety of fun music! String orchestra is a daily course, open to anyone with basic musical experience, and performs at several events each year! 
  • Harmony Gold Show Choir

    The Harmony Gold Show Choir features the best singers and dancers at Walsh Jesuit. This varsity level, auditioned group performs themed shows at competitions throughout the Midwest and takes performance trips to exciting places like Disneyworld, New York City and Chicago.
  • CenterStage Theatre

    CenterStage puts on a Fall play and a Spring musical every year.
    Our productions compete in the Playhouse Square Dazzle Awards, and has been consistently recognized throughout northeast Ohio.
  • Chamber Choir

    The Chamber Choir provides vocal music for all Masses and other spiritual services and events throughout the school year. In addition to performing liturgical music, this is a competitive choral group, performing at OMEA Solo & Ensemble contests and National Festival competitions.
  • Madrigal Choir

    A subset of the Chamber Choir, this audition-only small group specializes in acapella singing, with a repertoire of traditional madrigals, sacred music of the Renaissance, Christmas carols, as well as pop and jazz tunes.

    They perform in the same venues as the Chamber Choir, including OMEA Solo & Ensemble and National Festival settings. They often are asked to perform for special events where a small strolling group is needed and specific material is requested.      
  • Concert Band

    Concert band is a traditional band class comprised of woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentation. The concert band, under the direction of Nicholas Ratay, learns important musical concepts and plays a mixture of classical and modern music. The band performs at four concerts each school year, and at select school events. The concert band meets daily and is open to anyone with basic music experience. 
  • Warrior Corps Marching Band & Colorguard

    The Warrior Corps is the official athletic band of Walsh Jesuit High School! Under the direction of Nicholas Ratay, the Warrior Corps is an extracurricular group that rehearses once a week, and performs at the majority of WJ football games. The Corps also performs at band shows, parades, select basketball games, and various other WJ events! The Warrior Corps is open to anyone with basic musical experience, and no audition is necessary.

    Sign-ups for the 2024-25 season will open on Monday, January 15, 2024. The deadline to register will be Friday, May 24, 2024. Please email Mr. Ratay to signup, with your name, preferred email address, and instrument: ratayn@walshjesuit.org
