It's More Than Service Hours

Campus Ministry offers many opportunities for you to grow in relationship with yourself, God, and others.  Students are always welcome to drop in or make an appointment with a campus minister.  As students grow, and sometimes struggle in their faith or have concerns, the campus ministers are available to talk them through those challenging times.

A Key Formative Experience

Walsh Jesuit promotes being Open to Growth and a Commitment to Social Justice through the Christian Service Program.

The Christian Service Program

List of 4 items.

  • What is the Goal of the Christian Service Program

⇒To provide opportunities for metanoia - the radical transformation of the hearts and minds.

⇒By fostering, forming, and reflecting upon relationships with individuals from poor, marginalized, or disadvantaged populations, such transformation can take place.
  • How many service hours do I need to complete?

    Freshmen & Sophomores: 10
These hours must be completed at a church, Walsh Jesuit, or a community partner.
    Juniors and Seniors: 20
These hours must be completed at one (1) non-profit location that deals directly with a poor and/or marginalized community.
  • Are there specific places to complete service?

Approved service opportunities differ based on grade levels:

Freshmen & Sophomores – All Freshmen & Sophomores may serve at any location (school, parish, community, etc.), but we recommend they serve a poor, marginalized or disadvantaged population.

Juniors & Seniors – All 20 service hours must be performed at one, primary, 501c3 (nonprofit) agency that serves a poor, marginalized, or disadvantaged population. Students may augment hours earned at their primary agency with service performed through a Walsh Jesuit Campus Ministry.
  • Who do I call if I still have a question?
