Walsh Jesuit Mock Trial Team Advances to Regionals

Walsh Jesuit’s Mock Trial team was presented with a case at the start of the school year from the OCLRE organization in Columbus. They were given three months to read, analyze, and formulate arguments for the Prosecution and Defense. The case this year was based on the Serial podcast. Two lawyers, two witnesses, and a bailiff are needed for each side.
Students traveled to downtown Akron on Friday, January 26, 2018, for the District competition. The Prosecution side’s lawyers are Ashley O’Rourke and Grace Nemer. Their witnesses are Mia Latine and Schuyler Dick. The Defense side’s lawyers are Grace Ruane and Patrick Delaney. Their witnesses are Kristen Richardson and Amanda Raynow.

Ashley O’Rourke and Grace Ruane both won the best lawyer award for their particular trial. The award goes to whoever performed the best as a lawyer out of the 4 lawyers in the courtroom.

Schuyler Dick won the best witness for her particular trial out of 4 witnesses. She was a cell phone tower forensic expert.
