WJ Hockey Drops 3-2 Decision At Gilmour Academy

The Walsh Jesuit hockey team fell 3 -2 to a tough Gilmour Academy team at the Gilmour Academy Ice Arena on Friday, December 1.
After jumping out to a one-goal lead off the stick of senior forward Steven LeVasseur, the Warriors headed into the first intermission after dominating the play and shots on goal. Opening the second period, Gilmour came out of the locker room strong and the Lancers scored early in the second frame less than two minutes in, tying the game up at 1-1.

After a Warrior penalty, Gilmour made it 2-1 on the power play.  Although there were many quality scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the second period, the teams broke for the second intermission with with the Lancers still leading 2-1.

Early in the third period, Gilmour capitalized on a deflection and made it a 3-1 game. Walsh Jesuit answered when senior forward Max Miotke put in a nice rebound created by Levasseur, pulling the Warriors within one at 3-2, but that finished out the WJ scoring.

"Frankly, we did not play the full 45 minutes tonight and were beat by a good team," said Head Coach Pat McKendry. “ We did not capitalize on certain opportunities and that ultimately was the difference in the game.”
