WJ Women’s Swim Team Falls to Wooster
The women’s team lost to Wooster High School by a score of 67-116 on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Wooster.
Freshmen Julia Quernemoen and Hanna Goodrich led the scoring, with Quernemoen placing first in the 100 yard breaststroke and second in the 200 yard freestyle, while Goodrich placed first the 100 yard butterfly and second in the 200 yard IM. Sophomore Netti D’Angelo placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 100 yard backstroke. Senior Carra Croucher took second in the 50 yard freestyle, while Senior Sophia Mercurio took third in both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Sophomore Ava Speelman placed third in the 100 breaststroke, while Junior Natalie Schober placed third in 500 yard freestyle. In the diving competition, Junior Mackenzie Cook placed second while Sophomore Olivia Nemec took third.
The relay team of Goodrich, Speelman, Quernemoen, and Mercurio placed second in 200 yard medley relay. Also placing second was the team of Goodrich, Schober, Croucher, and Mercurio in the 400 freestyle relay. The 200 yard freestyle relay team placed third, consisting of Quernemoen, Sophomores Annie Bertoni, Alexis Steward, and Netti D’Angelo.
