Mission of Diversity and Inclusion

Walsh Jesuit High School is committed to the gospel value of diversity among its community as a mission driven core value. We believe that equal access and representation across gender, race, sexuality, academic ability, and socioeconomics will help create a learning environment that promotes awareness and reflects reality. Across the diverse landscape of northeast Ohio, we will push to meet the needs of the students and families we serve. We are committed to provide opportunities for students of all backgrounds to receive a formative Jesuit education.

The Diversity Department will focus on the following three areas recruitment, school-wide programming and student retention. We are committed to working with all the multi-cultural students to ensure that they are well connected, engaged and supported in the school community.

Diversity is God's Creation!

  • The scripture-John 1:3-5 states…

3 God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
4 The Word gave life to everything that was created,*
and his life brought light to everyone.
5 The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.*
  • We are all God’s Creations.

    • We share in God’s life, to be in communion with Him – which is communion with all life/creation. He has challenged us as individuals to bring our authentic selves to light so others can see and learn.
  • We all have an internal light, powered by the Holy Spirit, so let it shine.

Our life and dignity comes from being made in the image of God.  We are temples of the Holy Spirit and are called to recognize that light in ourselves and others.
  • Don’t be afraid to be who God has called you to be, Walk in Purpose.

Despite anything we think separates us from one another, it is this light that keeps us in communion.

  • The outer part of the circle

    - Represents the darkness of the world. The unknown (fear, sin, exclusion or injustice) that exist in our communities.
  • The flame

    - Represents layers of individuality. We all contribute something significant to the light (called diversity). Our contribution will be what we make it. As children of faith, we are empowered to be leaders. Be a leader, in the image of God, filled with His Holy Spirit.
  • The cross

    - Represents God’s presence at the center of our Existence. HE is our Creator, Provider and Protector. Reframe form letting the unknown dictate your impact on the community. The cross reveals our mission (shared with Christ) to be God’s light/love/life for to achieve full communion with Him and all of creation.
