Realizing that an excellent education was necessary for St. Ignatius of Loyola to fulfill his goal of working for Christ and the Catholic Church, Ignatius and a group of companions became the "first Jesuits" in the 1500's - beginning the early years of the foundation for Jesuit education. These early years led to the establishment of a plan of studies, the Ratio Studiorum in 1599, which shaped a network of Jesuit schools, colleges and universities which now serves more than 1.5 million students worldwide.
Since the founding of Walsh Jesuit High School in 1965, the lives of nearly 8,000 Walsh Jesuit graduates have been shaped by the mission, values and teachings of Jesuit education. Walsh Jesuit's desire for all who are a part of our community to live the Jesuit mission of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam is evident in the many alumni, parents and friends who are visible leaders in churches, education, business, health care, the community; and who strive to make a difference in others' lives daily.
For almost 50 years, many who have been touched by Walsh Jesuit have responded generously in support of cultivating the very traditions of Walsh Jesuit that impacted their lives. The office of Advancement promotes the mission of Walsh Jesuit by generating financial support, while focusing on the primary goal of providing young men and women with the very best Catholic, Jesuit education.
Our goal is to provide students from all economic backgrounds an opportunity to attend Walsh Jesuit. Tuition alone does not cover operating costs. This year, $1.5 million in tuition assistance has been given to 300 deserving students. Walsh Jesuit relies on the generosity and loyalty of alumni, parents and friends to help us continue to provide the very best spiritual, academic, athletic and artistic education for our students.
