Season Highlights & News

Our largest ever group of girls in track worked hard from the very beginning whether they were in the weight room, a hallway, carving out space in the Field House, or most importantly on the track. This year, we had 25 new freshmen who proved to be an extremely talented class and complemented our 7 seniors extremely well. This was an excellent senior class who helped turn the program around in their years on the team, including Captains Halle Randall and Sam Rico. They will be missed dearly next year. We also had 4 new sophomores and 2 new juniors that brought a lot of spirit and talent. Elizabeth Pace, Ashura Powell, and Izzy Saridakis proved to be outstanding first year sprinters, helping us out at various times with relays, while Izzy also proved her value as a jumper. Sarah Miholer in her junior year and first year on the team quickly became an outstanding pole vaulter to give us depth in that event along with Kailey Francetic. Our throwers made tremendous improvements this year, especially senior Jordan Erdie and sophomores Heidi Lewis, Julia Mandat, and Alyssa Kendrick. We came in a close second place at the North Coast League meet, less than 10 points shy of Beaumont, showing vast improvement over last year. Melinda Renuart's 1st place finish in the 1600m run and Molly Onders' 1st place in the 3200m set the pace for our team, which also had 2nd place finishes in the 4x8, 4x2, 4x1, 4x4, and pole vault. Every single one of our relays finished in the top 6 spots in districts led by seniors Melissa Hudak, Kennedy Payne, and Renee Mirka. Melissa Hudak (400m run) and Jaclyn Audino (800m run) made it to district finals in their races. Noelle Saluan made it to regionals in the 400m run. Our greatest highlight of the season was Melinda Renuart finishing 4th overall in the state in the 1600m run. She proved to have a tremendous competitive spirit, and we're so excited to have her and all the returning girls back next year!
