WALSH 2013-2014 CHEERLEADING MEETING

Thursday April 18^th 6:30PM at Walsh

• Parents & cheerleaders are encouraged to attend.
• Detailed information for tryouts will be given.
• Required forms will be given along with a cheerleading packet of information for the season with all requirements and information for the upcoming season

CHEER TEAMS OFFERED

Varsity Football- Open to Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors based on score.

Varsity Basketball- Open to Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors based on score.

Varsity Competition- Open to Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors based on score. * No conflicts for practice after January 18^th.

Junior Varsity Football- Open to Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors based on score.

Junior Varsity Basketball- Open to Freshman, Sophomores & Juniors based on score.

Freshman Football- Open to Freshman only based on score.

CLINIC DATES

Monday May 13^th   4:30-6:30PM at Brunswick Gym

Tuesday May 14^th 4:30-6:30PM at Brunswick Gym

Wednesday May 15^th 4:30-6:30PM at Brunswick Gym

TRYOUT DATE

Thursday May 16^th   4:30 until finished at Brunswick Gym

Sunday May 19^th via posting on our Website at 5PM (Temporary access will be given to all candidates.)

 WALSH CHEERLEADING WELCOME PARTY & UNIFORM SIZING

Monday May 20^th 4:30-6:30PM at Walsh

 CRITERIA FOR TRY-OUTS (More information will be given at the Cheerleading Tryout Meeting on Thursday April 18^th.)

• Cheer taught at tryout clinics.
• Chant taught at tryout clinics.
• Original cheer you make up 2 stanzas long. (Words and motions. Incorporate your best jumps and tumbling in this cheer.)
• Dance taught at tryout clinic.
• Jumps- Toe Touch, Front Hurdler, Double whip toe touch & Pike
• Tumbling- Choose your best 2 running passes and your best standing skill. Tumbling is not required to make a team, but will be included in the overall score.

PRACTICE BEGINS

Every Thursday Beginning Thursday June 6^th 3:40-5:30PM and is ongoing throughout the summer. Vacations can be taken, but when members are in town, they are expected to be at practice. Practice will be held every Thursday for all Football unless otherwise indicated. Practice for competition held every Wednesday beginning June 5^th and continue throughout the summer.

(No more than 4 weeks of practices can be missed during the summer per team from June-August.)

SUMMER CAMP

National Cheerleaders Association Camp July 29^th- July 31^st at Dennison University in Ohio

We will be attending summer camp with all football & basketball cheerleaders combined as a Varsity Team & a Junior Varsity team. Freshman team members will be placed on JV for the camp only. (Basketball cheerleaders will cheer on their appropriate team.) This is an overnight camp. Team members will learn multiple cheers, chants, dances, attend stunting clinics, band chants and more. Team members will participate in a daily evaluation and end of camp championship. Camp is mandatory.

COMPETITION TEAM CHOREOGRAPHY CLINIC

Our competition team will participate in choreography clinics July 22^nd, 23^rd & 24^th. 10AM-2PM
