Season Highlights

Junior Cheerleader, Marie Klein sets Guiness book of world Records!

Story taken from the Akron Beacon Journal, by ABJ reporter, Michael Beaven.
Created on Tuesday, 10 September 2013

MarieKlein02This morning ESPN featured Walsh Jesuit junior cheerleader Marie Klein who set a Guinness Book world record on Friday night with 42 back handsprings in front of a sold-out crowd. Klein accomplished the feat before Walsh's football game with visiting St. Vincent-St. Mary at Conway Memorial Stadium.

"It was crazy," Klein said. "I loved the way the crowd reacted. My mom was crying. It didn't feel real at times as I did it. I almost passed out, but I kept going. I am real excited to have the record. Now I want to break my own record."

MarieKlein01Marie stands 4-foot-11 and has been a cheerleader for six years. She is a member of the Varsity Cheerleading Squad at Walsh Jesuit High School. "It is so awesome I could do this with my family supporting me," Klein said. "My mom, Steph, my dad, Steve, and my brother, Stevie, all were here to watch."

Congratulations Marie! To view video footage of this event, click here.
