The Director of Alumni Relations (DAR) is a twelve month full-time job that requires some evening and weekend work, as well as out-of-town travel.  This position reports to the Director of Advancement and the salary is commensurate with experience and education. 

Qualifications:  Alumnus/alumna preferred.   B.A. degree in business or related field and a minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience. Ability to communicate effectively with school representatives, parents, students, alumni and representatives from the business community.  Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively.  Ability to recruit, develop and lead volunteers.  Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.  Ability to operate a personal computer and relevant business software.

The DAR is required to work closely with the President and Director of Advancement in supervising, administering and coordinating all segments of alumni activities, including solicitation of alumni donations.  This will be partially accomplished by working with the Director of Advancement and the Director of the Annual Fund to organize and implement alumni giving programs.  The DAR is responsible for developing relationships with the Alumni Association Officers to incorporate the Mission of Walsh Jesuit High School and the Mission of the Alumni Association in all alumni activities.  Additionally, the DAR must develop a better understanding of the Graduate at Graduation profile among all Walsh Jesuit graduates, culminating in an Alumni Association that is dedicated to continuing the personal human development of its members.

Specific Responsibilities:

Alumni Duties

  1. Supervise and coordinate all alumni activities in conjunction with the Alumni Association President which will include Homecoming/Reunion Weekend, Annual Golf Outing, Distinguished Alumnus Award, Athletic Hall of Fame, Day of Recollection, Memorial Mass, Legacy Reception, Phone-a-thon, and other similar activities.
  2. Organize regional alumni groups in selected cities across the country.  This necessitates that the DAR travel to these selected cities on a rotating basis.
  3. Has primary responsibility to implement those areas of the Development Office Goals & Strategies document relating to alumni.
  4. Secure class agent (s) for each graduating class.
  5. Maintain ongoing and regular contact with alumni via personal visits, telephone, e-mail and mail.
  6. Assist the Editor of Warrior Paths with articles and information concerning alumni and alumni programs.

Fund Raising Duties

  1. Assist with the organization and solicitation of the Annual Fund as it relates to alumni and alumni parent segments.
  2. Develop and implement a program designed to successfully cultivate and solicit alumni who are currently non-donors.
  3. Develop and implement a reunion giving program.
  4. Further develop and implement Ricco Legacy program

Assist the Director of Development

  1. Develop and administer alumni office budget
  2. Evaluate, cultivate, and solicit major alumni prospects
  3. Fulfill other related duties as specified by the Director of Advancement

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  1. Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
  2. Generally works in standard office conditions and climate.
  3. Turn, bend, reach and occasionally use a ladder.
  4. May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events.
  5. Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
  6. May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
